beginnings......
Well, this is my very first entry. This blog will be mainly my writing blog where I will track my progress on my WIPs, sometimes posting snippets from time to time. Parts of my other world may seep in occasionally.
I'm a writer and photographer. I love all things dark and gothic. I've always been enthralled by darkness and what lurks beneath the surface. My fine art photography is very different, very in-your-face and usually bizarre. I love Photoshop and Photo Montaging. I teach classes in photography at our local college. Also took 2 years towards a degree in Art with a specialty in photography. Someday, I'd like to finish it.
Works in Progress
Survivor - main WIP at the moment. First draft, 3/4's done. It's a psychological horror about a young woman with dissociative identity disorder. It's for a class I'm taking at Forward Motion. You learn how to write a book from the idea all the way to submission, taking two years. We're in the second year now.
Eternal Dance - secondary WIP. Third draft/first edit status. Dark fantasy about two women with linked fates, a triple murder, a vampire possessing a young woman, prophecy, love and the fate of the world. It was my first NaNoWriMo project ever in 2003, and I finished it with
50, 1010 words. I am very excited about this because it's my first fantasy ever.
I'll prolly talk about Terry Goodkind from time to time. Not only does he have an amazing series (Sword of Truth) but his books are inspiring to my personally and inspirational to me as a writer. Reading his Wizard's First Rule is what inspired me to change the focus of ED from just a vampire/horror novel to dark fantasy. If you haven't read his books, I highly recommend them.
I also have a number of books planned to make this a series ..... if I get it published and all that. ;) My goal is to have something out to an agent or publisher THIS YEAR.
I also write poetry and have been since I was 11. Been published in a number of literay mags; however, I'm looking towards writing a few chapbooks.
Life as a Moving Target - my brainchild from last year after being diagnosed with fibromyalgia and intractable vertigo (constant vertigo from unknown cause). I started off with one poem, and in months, I had enough to try to get it published as a collection. No luck yet but I will never stop trying, b/c the world needs to be made aware of these illnesses and the people who struggle with them.
Love Letters - Since my speciality is love poetry (not rhymed, not Hallmark-y either!), I decided to put together a collection as a "love letter" to everyone who's ever impacted my life, particularly men. That's still in progress as we speak.
Oh, what else? I'm hard at work at creating two Tarot decks. Actually, three now, since I have yet another concept, but anyhoo. I love the Tarot and have been reading the cards since I was 16. I own close to 30 decks, thanks to my very generous sister who feeds my addiction. The three decks I'm working on are very unique and powerful for me personally. More on that later.
